Since the beginning of April, the Afghanistan Liberation Movement (ALM) has launched a series of coordinated and intense attacks targeting Taliban positions in Kandahar province. According to local sources and confirmed statements from the movement’s leadership, these operations are part of a broader campaign aimed at challenging Taliban control in southern Afghanistan.
Pamir Ghorzang, a spokesperson for the ALM freedom fighters, announced that the group has formally begun an offensive targeting senior Taliban figures not only in Kandahar but also in other key provinces across the country. Ghorzang emphasized that the movement seeks to weaken Taliban command structures and disrupt their governance.
Witnesses in Kandahar reported multiple incidents involving armed clashes, targeted assaults, and roadside bombings aimed at Taliban vehicles and checkpoints. The fighting has resulted in casualties on both sides, though exact figures remain unconfirmed due to restricted access and conflicting reports.
This marks one of the most sustained anti-Taliban offensives in Kandahar since the group’s return to power, underlining growing unrest and armed resistance in various parts of Afghanistan. The situation remains tense as both sides prepare for further confrontations in the coming weeks.
