August 10, 2024 – Kauser News Agency and the Kauser Counter-Intelligence Safe Passage Foundation (KCISFA) are launching an urgent project to prevent Afghan nationals from falling victim to human traffickers in Latin America. This initiative follows a two-month investigative effort by Kauser News Agency, which uncovered alarming trends of Afghans being targeted for human and sex trafficking after arriving in countries like Brazil.
Kauser News Agency’s investigative team discovered that a growing number of Afghans are being exploited by traffickers who lure them to Brazil. Brazil’s humanitarian visa program, initially designed to offer safe refuge, has inadvertently become a gateway for traffickers. Criminal networks are selling these visas at exorbitant rates, charging anywhere from $5,000 to $15,000, to desperate Afghans seeking asylum.
Upon arrival, many Afghans are contacted by traffickers almost immediately, either at airports or hotels. These criminals then offer “assistance” to reach Mexico, charging an additional $2,000 to $7,000 per person. Once in Mexico, the victims are left in precarious situations with limited options and are often coerced into exploitative conditions.
A significant portion of Afghan victims are women and young adults who are at high risk of being forced into the sex trade. The issue is further complicated by Afghan criminals who exploit legal channels, such as the SIV (Special Immigrant Visa) or DV lottery, to enter the U.S. with falsified identities, thereby making it difficult to track and support genuine victims of trafficking.
Kauser News Agency, in partnership with KCISFA, is seeking urgent assistance from the Afghan-American and American communities to fund rescue and safe passage operations for these vulnerable Afghan nationals. Each dollar donated goes directly toward saving lives and providing safe exits for those trapped in Latin American trafficking rings.
This campaign aims to support Kauser News Agency’s continued research, intervention efforts, and to facilitate safe passages out of high-risk areas.
