Muhammad Khalid, a 31-year-old construction engineer who worked with the United States Government for 13 years in Kabul, is one of many Afghan youth who are struggling to make ends meet after the Taliban takeover in 2021.
Khalid says that he has been unable to find a job in his field since the Taliban took power and that he is now working as a laborer for just $5 a day. He is struggling to support his family of seven, and he is worried about the future of his children.
Khalid is also concerned about the lack of educational opportunities for young people under the Taliban regime. His three daughters and two sons are not allowed to go to school, and he fears that they will never be able to get a good education.
Khalid is not alone in his concerns. Many young Afghans are worried about the future of their country under the Taliban. They are frustrated by the lack of opportunities and the restrictions on their freedom, They are also worried about the security situation in Afghanistan.
The U.S. Embassy in Kabul recently posted a message on its Facebook page “Happy International Youth Day! This day is an opportunity to celebrate the energy and idealism of young Afghans and young people everywhere and to support their meaningful contributions and achievements to their communities.” Khalid said: “he was disappointed by the embassy’s message. He says that the embassy is not doing enough to help young Afghans and that their message is unrealistic.”
Khalid says that he wants the United States to do more to help young Afghans. He wants the United States to reopen its embassy in Kabul and increase its funding for humanitarian aid. He also wants the United States to help Afghans who are seeking to resettle in other countries.
