.Ms. Fe. Azizi, one of the female journalists who had worked for the national television in Afghanistan and has now sought refuge in Islamabad, Pakistan.
In an interview with Kauser News Agency, Ms. Azizi described the overall situation of female journalists in Pakistan as highly critical. She appealed to organizations and supporting countries to find better solutions for the resettlement of Afghan journalists.
Ms. Azizi stated, “Like myself, all journalists are experiencing hardships, fear, adversity, and destitution during migration, while also being under security threats.”
She said, “The most challenging aspect, which I am also grappling with, is that our fate as journalists remains uncertain, and we are struggling with indescribable difficulties.”
Regarding journalism activities in Pakistan, she mentioned they are not allowed to work as journalists in the country, Afghan journalists can participate in some conferences and workshops, both in-person and online.
She criticized international organizations for not supporting journalists’ rights, saying, “No institution or organization has helped me or people like me so far. We understand our challenges in this foreign land, but no one seems to comprehend our situation.”
According to Azizi, some genuine journalists who initially came here have completed their work and reached their desired countries. However, some original journalists who later moved to second-tier countries faced difficulties due to the presence of fake journalistic documents, leading to delays in their acceptance by host countries. Even after two years, they remain in limbo, as distinguishing between real and fake journalists is time-consuming.
