In a decisive move to curb prostitution and human trafficking, Sacramento County authorities recently conducted an extensive undercover operation along Watt Avenue in North Highlands. This operation, orchestrated by the Sheriff’s Special Investigations Bureau (SIB) in collaboration with multiple law enforcement units, led to the arrest of 56 individuals and the recovery of an unsterilized handgun.
Coordinated Effort
The operation was a result of coordinated efforts involving the Sheriff’s North, South, and East Patrol units, the Sheriff’s Special Enforcement Detail (SED), the Sheriff’s Work Project, and the Sheriff’s Drone Unit. Additional support came from the Rancho Cordova Police Problem Oriented Policing (POP) Team and the Crime Suppression Unit (CSU). Deputies posed as both sex workers and sex buyers, creating a two-pronged approach to infiltrate and dismantle the criminal network.
