Request for Information: USAID/Afghanistan “Afghanistan Integrated Youth Activity”

The U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID)/Afghanistan is calling upon organizations and individuals to provide insights and recommendations to address the pressing issues surrounding education, training, and technical skills development among Afghan youth. This Request for Information (RFI) seeks to gather input that will inform the design of a comprehensive youth development initiative, aimed at enhancing the capabilities of young people to contribute effectively to Afghanistan’s economy, particularly in agriculture and other vital sectors.

Purpose of the RFI

USAID is in the initial stages of planning a new cross-sectoral youth development activity. The goal is to understand the current challenges and opportunities and to develop strategic interventions to support education and workforce development for Afghan youth. This RFI is not a solicitation for applications but a request for information to guide future project planning and design. Responses will not be considered applications, nor will they be evaluated as such.

Submission Guidelines

All interested parties should submit their responses electronically to Habib Rahman Amin, Acquisition and Assistance Specialist, by March 21, 2024, at 10:00 AM Eastern Time. The subject line of the email should USAID/Afghanistan, Afghanistan Integrated Youth Activity.” Submissions should not exceed seven pages, including annexes and attachments.

Background

Afghanistan’s youth, comprising over 60% of the population, face significant barriers to education and employment. USAID aims to support secondary and post-secondary education, focusing on young women and the agriculture sector, which employs over 80% of the population. The proposed activity will seek to enhance educational opportunities and workforce development initiatives to empower youth and bolster Afghanistan’s economic resilience.
