The Afghanistan Liberation Movement (ALM) A-021 reports a significant seizure of narcotics in a Taliban-controlled smuggling operation. According to the movement, security forces intercepted a Mazda vehicle in Sar-e-Pul province, uncovering hundreds of kilograms of heroin and opium. The vehicle was reportedly en route from Badakhshan to Badghis, facilitated by local Taliban commanders.
Following the seizure, Taliban forces in Badghis later claimed to have recovered the vehicle—though the illicit cargo had already been removed. This incident further underscores the Taliban’s ongoing involvement in the drug trade. Reports from across Afghanistan indicate that opium traders continue to operate freely under specific conditions, often granted protection by Taliban commanders in exchange for a share of the profits.
The ALM has shared evidence of the seizure with Kauser News Agency, reinforcing their claims of Taliban complicity in the narcotics trade. Despite Taliban assertions of cracking down on drug production, such incidents highlight the group’s deep entanglement with trafficking networks.
An ALM spokesperson stated that the movement remains steadfast in its mission, reiterating its commitment to combating these activities across the country.
