The Taliban has rejected Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian’s allegations that ISIS leaders have been transferred to Afghanistan from Iraq, Syria, and Libya.
In a statement, the Taliban said that it has “meticulously fought against Daesh” both during and after the end of the U.S. occupation. The statement said that the Taliban will not allow anyone to threaten the national security of Afghanistan or use its territory against others.
They further said that they are looking for “constructive economic, political, and social relations” between the two countries instead of raising “false alarms about Afghanistan.”
The Iranian Foreign Minister’s allegations have not been corroborated by any other sources. The Taliban’s statement is the first official response to the allegations.
The Taliban’s statement comes as the two countries are trying to improve relations. The Taliban has said that it wants to have good relations with Iran, and Iran has said that it is willing to work with the Taliban to promote peace and stability in the region.
