Ziauddin Gurob, a media professional from Baghlan province, has reached out to the public through social media platforms, seeking financial assistance. Gurob, who has extensive media experience in Baghlan province and currently resides in Kabul, is facing tough economic challenges, unemployment, illness, and a lack of employment opportunities.
The social media page “Afghans with Culture” has quoted him saying, “I have sold all my belongings to survive, and I have nothing left to sell. I have undergone multiple surgeries and am no longer capable of engaging in strenuous work.”
This comes at a time when several international organizations, in collaboration with national entities, have reported providing financial aid to journalists in Afghanistan and Pakistan, like Ziauddin Gurob, many other journalists and media professionals are struggling with similar circumstances, yet they have not received any form of assistance from national or international organizations. Consequently, it appears that all these aid efforts have been misappropriated.
I spoke with several journalists located in Afghanistan and Pakistan who are living in unfavorable conditions. They requested to remain anonymous but shared with Kauser News Agency that national and international entities claiming to support journalists are corrupt and fraudulent. Allegedly, international organizations collaborate with national entities to create fake and counterfeit lists, diverting all assistance for their benefit.
We attempted to gather the perspective of Ziauddin Gurob and the national entities supporting journalists, but unfortunately, despite repeated attempts, we were unable to obtain their input.
Ziauddin Gurob has dedicated most of his life to working as a technician (operator) at various local radio stations including Radio Arezuha, Radio Tarajameer, Radio Farhat, Radio Adeeb, Radio Peyman, as well as serving in the Information and Culture Directorate and local television in Baghlan.
It is worth mentioning that the aforementioned social media page has provided Ziauddin Gurob with contact information and has requested all charitable foundations, journalist and reporter support organizations, national traders, and Afghans both within and outside the country not to hesitate in providing him with financial support
