KAUSER NEWS AGENCY | Desk Report | October 15, 2026
Almost 1.3 million Afghans returned to Afghanistan during 2026 through October 3, according to a UNHCR dashboard drawing on data from the International Organization for Migration and the UN refugee agency.
The dashboard records 1,298,370 returns: about 715,400 from Pakistan and 581,600 from Iran, plus a smaller number from other locations. Its definition of ‘returns’ includes deportations, assisted voluntary repatriation and other returns; it should not be interpreted as a count of deportations alone.
The same data show approximately 563,460 deportations, with the large majority recorded from Iran. Large-scale movements are placing additional demands on housing, jobs and basic services in Afghanistan. The figures are provisional administrative estimates and may change as reporting is updated.
