Yemen’s Houthi movement struck the Maashiq presidential palace complex in Aden on Thursday, killing two security guards, according to Reuters. Yemen’s prime minister and cabinet members were unharmed. Houthi representatives said the intended target was a Saudi military operations headquarters, a claim Reuters could not independently verify.
The Saudi-led coalition also accused the Houthis of repeated attacks on airports, ports and oil facilities. Separately, Saudi authorities said a missile was intercepted near Medina and a drone was destroyed in the Eastern Province. The Houthis denied responsibility for the Medina incident, and attribution remains disputed.
The escalation adds to Yemen’s humanitarian emergency and threatens civil aviation, maritime trade and regional diplomacy. The coalition’s allegations and Houthi claims should be evaluated independently; the presence of Iranian support does not by itself establish Tehran’s command of individual operations.
